Our Response to COVID-19

At the onset of COVID-19 in the United States (March 2020), the England Family Foundation immediately responded with emergency support to community advocacy, health clinics, and food access providers; multiple pooled funds through the Greater Washington Community Foundation, and direct cash assistance to residents most in need (see our full list of 2020 Covid‑response grants). The Foundation recognized that this was “the rainy day” and a time for philanthropy to operate differently and very quickly.

Keenly aware that COVID-19 has disproportionately affected Black and Brown people, the Foundation’s support has been geared toward those most impacted.

As we move from response to recovering and rebuilding, we are seeking to invest in ways that will address root causes of racial inequities and help create a more equitable community.
